LegalSnap is a legal note-taking and billing application for Android, developed by Spectrum Foundry. This policy explains what information the app handles, where it is stored, and how it is used. Please read it carefully before using the app.
LegalSnap handles only the information needed to provide its features. This falls into two categories.
Information you enter directly. This includes billing entries, narrative notes, billed time, audio recordings, and photos you attach to entries. This information exists solely within the app on your device.
Subscription information. If you subscribe to LegalSnap Pro, your purchase is processed entirely by Google Play. LegalSnap receives only a confirmation indicating whether a valid subscription is active. We do not receive or store your name, payment details, or billing address.
LegalSnap does not collect analytics, usage data, crash reports, advertising identifiers, or any other information about how you use the app.
Your notes, entries, audio recordings, and attachments are stored exclusively on your device. LegalSnap has no server, no cloud backend, and no account system. None of your entry data is ever transmitted to or stored by LegalSnap or any third party.
All app data is written to your device’s private app storage. It is not backed up to any cloud service by LegalSnap. If your device’s built-in backup service (such as Google One backup) is enabled in your Android settings, it may back up app data as part of its normal operation. This is outside LegalSnap’s control and is governed by Google’s own privacy policy.
If you uninstall LegalSnap, all data stored by the app is permanently deleted from your device.
Information you enter into LegalSnap is used for one purpose: to generate billing emails you can send to your support staff. It is not shared with, sold to, or accessible by anyone, including us.
The app stores your subscription status and free trial start date locally on your device so it can function offline. This information is never transmitted to us or shared with anyone.
LegalSnap requests access to your device’s camera and microphone only so you can attach photos and audio recordings to your entries. These permissions are used only when you choose to take a photo or record audio. The resulting files are stored in the app’s private storage on your device and are not uploaded anywhere.
When you choose to send an entry, LegalSnap pre-populates a draft in your device’s default email application. This draft includes the narrative, billed time, and any attachments you selected, addressed to your configured distribution list.
LegalSnap does not send email on your behalf. The draft is handed to your email app and remains there until you review and send it yourself. LegalSnap has no visibility into whether the email was sent, received, or read. Once you send an email, its handling is governed by your email provider.
LegalSnap uses Google Play Billing to process subscriptions. When you subscribe, Google Play handles payment processing, receipts, and subscription management. This is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
LegalSnap does not integrate with any other third-party analytics, advertising, or data services.
Because all data is stored locally on your device, retention is entirely under your control. You may delete individual entries or all entries, or uninstall the app, at any time. LegalSnap retains no copies of your data.
If your trial period ends or your subscription lapses, your existing entries remain readable on your device. No data is deleted as a result of a change in subscription status.
LegalSnap is intended for use by legal professionals and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has used the app in a way that raises a privacy concern, please contact us using the information below.
If this privacy policy changes in a material way, the updated policy will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date. Continued use of LegalSnap after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Because LegalSnap does not collect contact information, we are unable to notify users directly of policy changes.
